Luxury river expedition company, Pandaw, is delighted to announce that
they will become the first and only operators to explore the rivers of the
fascinating Arakan region in Western Burma. A series of seven night expeditions
will operate weekly from 2 October 2015 and will take intrepid guests in to the
heart of one of the most interesting areas of Burma on the RV Katha Pandaw, a
replica of the original 19th Century Irrawaddy Flotilla Company
boats.
The Ancient
Arakan expedition will visit many fascinating sights best accessed by river,
including Mrauk U, a temple city that rivals Pagan, Angkor or Borobadur in
significance as a centre of Buddhist culture. It will also explore other parts
of the Arakan river system on the Kaladan River; including the old colonial port
city of Akyab, now called Sittwe, and the incredible Tattoo Villages of the Le
Myo River deep inside the Arakan interior.
Guests looking
for an extended exploration of Burma can combine this seven night expedition,
departing weekly on a Friday, with other weekly Pandaw departures on the
Chindwin (Saturdays), Bhamo (Sundays) and the Salween (Mondays).
