New Costa flagship features art collection of 7,800-pieces

Costa Diadema, Costa Cruises’ new flagship to be christened in Genoa on 7 November 2014, will feature a unique collection of artworks created for the new vessel that complement its interior design.

The artworks are all based around the theme of regality. The collection also takes inspiration from symbols considered to be regal including buildings and jewels.

The “Regina del Mediterraneo”, or “Queen of the Mediterranean” will offer guests a relaxed but engaging atmosphere due in part to the artworks, designed to appeal to everyone – from dedicated art lovers and collectors down to those with a minimal interest in the craft.

Costa Diadema will exhibit 7,874 pieces of art including 190 original works, including silk-screen prints by 41 different artists, all asked to provide their individual interpretation of regality. The collection spans painting, sculpture, photography and more. Among the participating artists are Sam Havadtoy and Mario Donizetti as well emerging Italian artists such as Vanni Cuoghi, Resi Girardello, Andy, Roberta Savelli and Claudio Prestinari.
