Record number of cruise passengers visit the Orkneys

July 5 saw three cruiseships visiting Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, generating  a record 7,000 cruise passengers ashore in one day.
MSC Magnifica and Oceania's Nautica berthed at Hatson Pier, which at almost a quarter of a mile long is Scotland’s longest commercial deep-water berth,  while Ruby Princess was at anchor in Kirkwall Bay. Shoreside 50 individual guided tours were undertaken throughout the day.  MSC Magnifica and Ruby Princess are both set to return to Kirkwall on August 1.
