More Britannia - Behind The Design

P&O Cruises have been quick to ratchet up the publicity campaign for their forthcoming new ship Britannia, which is due for its maiden voyage in Spring 2015.

Earlier this month (on December 5, in fact), they released their first 'Making Of' video teaser, with a special behind-the-scenes look at the design and construction process, and it proved an immediate hit with British cruise-goers. We featured it here on Time Spent At Sea and it drew hundreds of pageviews (see it on this link).

So, with that in mind, here comes Part 2 of the 'Britannia - Behind The Design' series, with another two and a half minute video that reveals lots of new facts, images and illustrations of Britannia from designers Richmond International.

What to watch out for in Episode 2:

  • Atrium – with its wow-factor starburst central feature, three-storey spiral staircase, wide open space, furniture, colour schemes and a totally decadent look and feel
  • Spa – P&O's biggest yet; see the treatments rooms, hydrotherapy pool, relaxation and reception areas
  • Ultra modern cabins with contemporary bathrooms
  • Deck areas – see the pools, the various levels, layout and imagine yourself on those sun loungers!

Britannia will be the largest ship ever built for the British cruise business, at 141,000 tons and carrying 3,600 passengers. Her maiden voyage has yet to be revealed but P&O promise another big announcement in February.

Their latest video is also hosted on the P&O Cruises YouTube channel and can be seen direct on this link (if the above doesn't work):
