This round trip from Bergen takes a full day and combines a boat journey through Sognefjord, a trip on the famous Flåm Railway to Myrdal and return to Bergen by train. Summer King Crab Fishing – from £146pp: Head off to the best fishing grounds in the Barents Sea on a fishing boat. Here, everyone joins in and, together, huge cages full of king crabs are pulled from the water. Back on shore, the tasty catch is prepared and served for lunch in a cosy fisherman’s cottage – a true delicacy. The tour is offered to those starting or ending their voyage in Kirkenes and is available from mid-May to mid-October.

Norway in a Nutshell - £121pp: One of the most popular independent tours in Norway. This full day trip takes a bus, train and ferry through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the area. Hurtigruten's Classic Voyage North costs from £1,143pp (June 1 to 31 July) and is a seven-day cruise from Bergen in the south to Kirkenes by the Russian border. It includes half board on the ship but flights are extra.
