More Med Magic From Star Clippers

This is sure to appeal to aficionados of sail-cruising, as tall-ship cruise specialist Star Clippers is featuring a range of new destinations and new ports of call in the Mediterranean this year on their three head-turning ships Star ClipperStar Flyer and Royal Clipper.

In May, Grand Prix fans will be able to access the atmosphere of the most prestigious race of the F1 season in Monte Carlo, when guests on Star Flyer will be in pole position in the harbour.
Summer sees Star Clippers sailing a season from Palma de Mallorca for the first time, while new ports of call for the Mediterranean season include Porto and the Scandolo Nature Reserve in Corsica, and La Sabina in Formentera.
In addition to new destinations and routes, there is more variation in length of cruise than ever before, from a three-night taster from Venice in September to a 21-night transatlantic crossing on Royal Clipper from Barbados to Rome.

Celebrity Cruises With Oz Clarke

This October, gastronomes and wine enthusiasts can delve into Europe’s rich wine heritage with renowned expert Oz Clarke and Celebrity Cruises. Oz will lead a host of wine travel experiences, taking in renowned vineyards throughout France, Spain and Portugal during the spectacular annual grape harvest and provide guests the opportunity to enjoy gastronomic experiences and improve knowledge of wine through engaging and entertaining masterclasses.

The 12-night immersive holiday – designed to impress the palates of food and wine fans with some expert advice on hand – will allow guests to take advantage of the first-class restaurants and wine programmes onboard the recently refurbished Celebrity Infinity whilst travelling between Europe’s top wine producing regions.

Tantalise the taste buds with a wine and cheese pairing; immerse yourself in the old world wines of France with an introduction to French wine; and brush up on your wine knowledge with masterclasses in Bordeaux wines, Spanish wine and Sherry; and a French wine masterclass. To experience all five events costs just £89 per person.

The European Immersive Wine Cruise departs during the wine harvest season from Harwich on October 12 and will call at Paris (port of Le Havre), Bordeaux (port of Le Verdon), La Rochelle, Bilbao, Vigo and Porto before returning to Harwich. Late Med Bargains From Holland America

Holland America Line is offering two UK to Barcelona cruises this August and September with fantastic fly-cruise prices.

Their 11-night European Jewels cruise now costs from just £949pp and departs from Dover on August 10, while the 10-night Western Europe Adventure is now priced from £810pp and sails from Harwich on September 29.  

These offers include scheduled flights from Barcelona to London at the end of the cruise, full board accommodation and are based on two people sharing an inside stateroom on MS Ryndam and Rotterdam respectively. Guests on the Western Europe cruise can also enjoy upgrades to Ocean View Staterooms for just £1.

The itineraries start by sailing out to La Coruna, on the northern coast of Spain, before moving down the beautiful western coast of Portugal taking in Porto and Lisbon. Back into Spanish waters, the ships call at Cadiz before journeying on to Gibraltar and entering the Mediterranean. 

The Western European Adventure cruise also calls in at Malaga whilst the European Jewels itinerary includes a call in Motril, the second highest town in the province after Granada. Guests will enjoy a final day at sea to relax and soak up the sun before arriving in Barcelona.

Sojourn's Southampton Debut

Seabourn Sojourn, The Yachts of Seabourn’s newest deluxe ship, is making its debut in Southampton on April 27, 2011. The Port of Southampton will be the second UK port to feature a visit from Sojourn and is the final stop on its 111-day grand World Cruise from Los Angeles.

The ultra-chic vessel also represents the first luxury cruising-yacht to sail into and depart from Southampton in 2011. On the same day it arrives, Sojourn also sets sail on its round-trip Mediterranean Sojourn I & II itinerary, arriving back in the UK on May 14. The following day, Sojourn makes its final departure for the year from the famous south coast port, headed for Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea.
